Qualifying in the wet

As Holly lined up for qualifying on Saturday morning dark clouds came rolling in. Teams were making last minute changes from slicks to wets in the assembly area as the rain began and Fox, too, opted for the wets for Holly. An early red flag caused by KMR’s Lily May Watkins stopped the session with nine minutes to go with drivers waiting in the pit lane as the rain continued pelting down on Donington Park. Holly held her own at the back of the pack, keeping it consistent and qualifying in P21 after the restart.

Saturday race

After a delayed start to the evenings race which Holly started in P20, an early incident between Taylor and O’Grady reshuffled the middle of the pack and took Holly into P18 behind the safety car. She dropped to P19 after the safety car ended and drove on consistently finishing in P19.

Sunday races

On Sunday, Holly started Race 2 in P21 keeping it consistent throughout. Time penalties for track limits as well as issues faced by other drivers made for a busy of the pack but Holly held her own finishing in a solid P17.

Holly started Race 3 in P21 as well and due to early commotion she was able to move up to P14. She dropped to P15 and stayed consistent for a few more laps before being overtaken by Ruddock and Taylor placing her in P17 when the race was ended early due to a red flag.

The final session on Sunday was the missed Brands Hatch race from the cancellation last round. Consistent driving saw her inherit two positions taking her up to P16 which she maintained until the end of the race. A solid finish.

Holly said of the season finale: “This season has been full of challenges and learnings but also improvements – and I was glad to see out the season at my favorite track, Donington Park. Changing from Ginetta Juniors to GB4 was definitely demanding but I have a much stronger sense of what I need to improve on and how I am going to get there. I want to thank my entire team for their support this year, especially my family and the people who show up for me every day, I would not have been able to do this without you!”
