How do I prepare in the days leading up to a race weekend?

Most of my physical preparation is done in the weeks leading up to a race weekend. I have been spending lots of time in the gym, working with my personal trainer on targeted workouts which prepare me for the forces of single seater racing.
In the days before a race, I tend to stick to cardio so that my muscles can recover. I will also make sure that I get plenty of sleep, to make sure that I am well rested when I get on the track!

How do I fuel myself for a race weekend?

A few days before a race I start to focus my diet on carb-loading. This allows me to have enough energy on a race day, which is particularly important in the GB4 Championship where we are racing 4 times in a weekend.
On the morning of a race day, I always eat yoghurt and granola! It’s perfect for me because it doesn’t fill me up too much but gives me a good energetic start to the day of racing ahead.

How do I stay focused in between races at a circuit?

Racing in GB4 has taught me how important it is to stay switched on in between races, as we are often waiting for a long time in between races or qualifying sessions. I like to stay focused by playing card games with my team, as it helps me to keep my brain awake. I also like to watch the other races on the day, so I can learn from those around me and pass the time quicker!

I’m really looking forward to continuing my debut season in the GB4 Championship, and I will keep working hard to improve. I’ll be racing in round 4 of the championship at Snetterton in July, keep an eye out here and on my social media channels for dates and times in the coming weeks!
