Meet Fox Motorsport – The Winning Team

5 March 2023

In her inaugural Michelin Ginetta Junior Championship season, Holly is racing with the Fox Motorsport team. Programmes in both the Ginetta Junior Championship and GB4 Championship dominate the schedule for the team as it pursues more accolades to add to an already bulging trophy cabinet.   Both series are well-established as early steps on the Formula 1 ladder system.

The team was originally founded in 2010 by Paul McNeilly and based in Maldon, Essex. Subsequently, Fox Motorsport have rapidly risen through the team ranks to become one of the UK’s most-respected GT and single-make racing teams.

At its outset, the team enjoyed a perfect start as Paul McNeilly, BJ Chong and British Touring Car ace Paul O’Neill won their debut race – a 1000 km (yes!) Lotus Cup event at Brands Hatch in November 2010. They became regular podium finishers in the series over the next three years.

A toe-in-the-water debut in the British GT Championship in 2013 brought a welcome GTB class win for McNeilly and Jamie Stanley in a Ferrari, while full-time campaigns over the next two seasons made the Essex squad winners in the GT4 class with a Ginetta G55. This is a car that would also be taken to the top step of the podium in both the GT Cup and the Ginetta GT4 Supercup over the next few years.

Among the team’s greatest achievements are two victories from four starts in the pan-European 24-hour series. Firstly, a class win with a semi-pro line-up in a Ferrari 488 GT3 at Silverstone in 2016 against an International GT Open field that included a handful of ex-Formula 1 racers; followed by a GT4 Audi win in 2018 and an outright pole position.

Key to the team’s success has been its nurturing of up-and-coming talent both career-minded young talent and enthusiastic amateur racers. On joining the team, they benefit from the expert driving and technical knowledge and infrastructure at Fox across various levels of the motorsport ladder.

Among these success stories have been Nick Halstead, who joined Fox as a race rookie in 2017 and became a Ginetta GT5 Challenge Am champion and a GT4 Supercup title contender en route to his current status as a British GT outright race winner with Fox, and Ian Duggan, who claimed Am crowns in two different Ginetta categories since 2019 and is himself graduating to British GT this year.

In 2023 the team will not only field rookie duo our, very own Holly Miall and Harry Moss (both HMs is this a good omen?) in Ginetta Juniors, but also series graduates Liam McNeilly and Sid Smith in the GB4 Series as the team expands to a full-season junior single-seater programme for the first time.

Holly is proud to be part of the team for the season ahead and is thoroughly enjoying her time with the team as she transitions to cars from karts.
