After a 7hr drive in traffic on Friday, Saturday testing was warm and sunny. Having only been to to the track once before it took a couple of sessions to get upto speed but we showed good pace and were only a couple of tenths off the pace.
Sunday – Race day
The rain and fog came, first test was all about learning where the grip was in the wet followed by qualifying, we didn’t fair well and ended up nearly a second off the pace which put us 9th for heat 1.
Heat 1
We got a good start but after some contact from behind on the first lap we were turned round and ended up about 10 seconds off the pack in last. We caught back up and got past a few leaving us finishing 10th which is where would start for the pre-final.
Pre-final
Starting 10th we were on the back foot and battled back and fourth the whole race finally finishing 8th.
Final
We started well but dropped 2 places to 10th but after a 4 lap battle got back upto 9th but we’re promoted to 8th due to another driver getting a penalty. All in all a good weekend learning a lot throughout the weekend.
Now with a 5 week break before the next round in Scotland I’ve got a few weeks to get some practice in.
